? Building Work Relationships, Effective Listening and Codependency
Thanks to Saint Valentine, February is equated with personal relationships. But workplaces are communities too. They are built around the relationships we have with our coworkers. And like personal relationships, work relationships can be a source of energy, learning, support, and growth.
When work relationships fracture, even temporarily, they become sources of frustration that harm both people and organizations. That’s why listening is a core part of managers’ profiles – to understand and form better relationships with their direct reports, peers, and everyone else in the organization.
In this issue, we’re focusing on relationships. Take a deep dive into being better listeners and learn a few strategies to improve work relationships. Work relationships can also have a certain level of codependency. We examine what that looks like in a workplace and how our assessments and reports can be used to help employees thrive.
Gallup recently reported that good work relationships are linked to better customer engagement and increased profit. Human beings are naturally social creatures. And when you consider that we spend one-third of our lives at work, it's clear that good work relationships will contribute to a positive company culture and increase retention.
See you next month!
